Adjustable beds used in hospitals and homecare are similar in basic functions. The four main options available in the homecare industry are:
Standard - Standard profile bed can be lowered to about 40cm and raised to about 80cm and has a maximum user capacity of at least 28 stones (180kg). Low - Similar to standard profile beds, but low beds have a minimum platform height of 21cm. Ultra-Low - Designed for use without bedside rails it can be lowered to just 67mm from the floor so that if the user falls off the bed, the impact is minimized, especially when used in conjunction with the mat. Bariatric - This heavy bed of beds must have a weight capacity of not less than 45 stones (286kg) and not less than 120cm wide. Hospital beds should be able to withstand a more rigorous and regular cleaning to reduce contamination. The basic and most popular structure is the base with a twin drive or triple drive motor. The support of the mattress comes from the flexibility of the blades and their elastic mounting on the frame. The slatted base is an economical price and can be lifted with a lightweight actuator. A more advanced structure is a fully flexible base; It provides support for mattresses at each pressure point. They also need a stronger motor because of its weight. Fully flexible bases are usually made of categorized patches of HR or cold foam, sometimes covered with a latex or 3D mesh (spacer fabric) coating. Flexible bases are fully denser and many would say more comfortable in providing better support to the mattress.
