Pokémon Trading Card Game ( ?????????? , Pokemon K? Do G? Mu , "PokÃÆ'  © mon Card Game") , abbreviated with PTCG or Poké © mon TCG , is a collection card game, based on the Pokémon video game series, first published in October 1996 by Media Factory in Japan. In the US, originally published by the Wizards of the Coast; The PokÃÆ'  © mon Company finally took over the card game issuance in June 2003. The game has sold 23.6 Ã, billion cards worldwide.

Gameplay
Players play the role of coach Pokémon mon and use their Pokémon to fight with their opponents. Players play Pokémon mon to the field and attack their opponents Pokémon. A Pokémon mon, which has suffered quite a bit of damage, and the player who dropped it drew the Gift card. There are usually six gift cards, and the main winning condition is to attract them all. Another way to win is to drop all Pokémon mon opponents on the pitch in such a way that the opponent has no left, or if at the beginning of their opponent's turn there is no card left to draw on the opposing deck.
The player starts off with having one player pick head or tail, and the other flips the coin; the winner of the coin flip will decide who is first or second. The first player can not attack on their first turn. (Dies can be used instead of coins, with even numbers representing heads and odd numbers representing the tail). Players then shuffle their decks and draw seven cards, then play a Pokémon mon Basic mon to the field. Pokémon mon is known as active Pokémon, and usually it attacks and receives damage. If a player does not have Basic Pokémon mon, they should scramble and draw a new hand, and the opponent can withdraw one additional card. Once both players have at least one Pokémon mon base, they can play up to five more Pokémon mon Mon Ground to their "Benches" (representing the maximum limit of six of the video games). The player then takes the top six cards from their deck and places them aside as a Gift Card. The play then starts with the player who won the coin flip.
Play alternately between players who may take some action during their turn, including playing a new Pokémon Mon, developing their Pokémon, playing Trainer cards and Energy cards, and using Pokémon Mon Abilities. A player can also resign their Pokà © mon Active, switch mon Pokà © active with one on the Bench. At the end of their turn, a player can use one of their active Pokémon attacks, provided that the prerequisite and type of Energy is attached to the Pokémon. The effects of the attack are then activated and the damage can be placed on the Pokémon defense (some attacks only have an effect but not damage). This damage can be modified depending on whether the defender has weakness or rejects the Pokémon type of attacker's opponent. If the last damage exceeds the defending HP Pokémon, it's Knocked Out, and the active player takes the Gift Card and ends their turn.
Card type
Basic Pokémon mon mon is the foundation of all decks. Without them, a player can not play the game, because both players start the game by placing the basic Pokémon mon at the On position in the field. Each Pokémon mon card describes Pokémon mon of the video game. Each player can have up to six Pokémon on the playing field at one time: one Pokéal "Active" and a maximum of five on the bench. Each Pokémon mon card has the name, type, and number of Health Points (HP). All features Pokémon mon attacks; this usually deals with damage to Pokémon mon actively opposed to mon, or sometimes, their Pokémon placed; However, attacks can also perform different functions, such as drawing cards, raising Special Conditions, or changing the status of the opposing council. Another type of Pokémon mon card is Pokémon Evolved Monev. Basic PokÃÆ'  © mon is Pokà © mon mon that has not evolved, and can be played directly to the Bench. By contrast, Evolved Poké © mon usually can not be placed directly into the field; they must be played on top of Pokémon under the appropriate stage. Stage 1 Pokémon mon evolved from Basic Pokémon mon, and Stage 2 Pokémon mon evolved from Stage 1 Pokémon mon. When Pokémon mon evolved, he got HP and the changes changed, usually getting stronger. These cards have special gestures set at the bottom of their cards which can only be used once per game. Only one GX gesture can be played per game, so if there are three different PokÃÆ'  © mon-GX cards on your deck, only one of three GX gestures can be used. Also with new Pokémon Mon Sun & amp; The sun and month of expansion are Alolan PokÃÆ'  © mon, Pokémon mon mon is a monster that has an alternate shape from their original look that is specific to Alola and Sun & amp; Moon series.
Energy card is attached to Pokémon mon to give strength to Pokémon attacks. Typically, only one Energy card can be rotated per turn. There are two main categories of Energy cards: Basic Energy and Special Energy. The nine different types of Basic Energy (which correspond to the Pokémon mon mon) type are Grass, Fire, Water, Lightning, Psychic, Battle, Darkness, Metals, and Elves. Two additional types, Dragon and Colorless, do not have their own Energy card and instead use other Energy types. The Basic Energy Card is used only to meet the costs of attacking and retreating, while the Special Energy card has additional benefits. Most attacks require certain types and amounts of Energy. If the attack requires a certain type and amount of Energy, then the type and amount of Energy must be attached to Pokémon mon. If the attack has a Colorless Energy requirement, the requirement can be met by any Energy card.
Coach cards perform various functions to influence the game: healing Pokémon mon, wasting energy from Pokémon mon opponents, or taking cards from the waste pile are some key examples. Before Diamond & amp; Pearl , all cards that are not Pokémon mon or Energy are considered Trainer cards. Coaches have since been divided into several categories: Card merchandise directly affects Pokémon battling, Tool cards attached to Pokémon mon and modifying their features, Stadium cards affecting all fields, and Supporters like Stronger items, only one of which can played per turn.

A simplified type system is adopted from a video game for use in trading card games. Instead of 18 types of Pokémon mon, only eleven are in TCG. Seven introduced in Base Set (first set of Pokénà © mon card); Darkness and Metal types appear when Poky and Gold both introduce Dark and Steel types in video games; Dragon Type introduced in Japanese Dragon Selection set; and finally, the Fairy type introduced in Japan XY is set to match its introduction in video games.
Most Pokémon mon mon has only one type, the three exceptions are the EX Team Magma vs Team Aqua which introduces Pokémon double type which has two different types, XY: Steam Siege, and the Heartgold/Soulsilver era set. The double-type is used in Pokémon LEGEND cards, to emphasize some Pokémon monitors owned by Heartgold and Soulsilver devices. In August 2016, the expansion of the Steam Siege from the XY Series reintroduced the Pokémon double type, this time with Pokémon routine into several types at once EX Pokémon.

Play competitive
In addition to the collectible aspects of the card game, The Poké Mon Company International (formerly known as PokÃÆ'Â © mon USA) has also created Play! PokÃÆ' Â © mon , formerly known as Pokémon Organized Play ( POP ), which is responsible for the organization of the official League program, where players can fight with others in the local environment and earn player points, two card reinforcement packages from a set of promotions, badges, stickers, and other materials. It is run by the leaders and owners of the League. POP also runs a professorship program, where individuals aged 18 or over can become professors, who can sanction and run tournaments and leagues. League leaders can assist in managing the league, while the League Owner is the person who is officially responsible for the league, reporting to the Organized Play program every result and/or problem every seven weeks. The league runs in an annual cycle, based on a particular aspect of one Pokémon Video Game or Trading Card Game: the current cycle is based on the Latest set, Current season is Evolution season.
Prelilar tournaments are held before each set is released. Usually, they run on two weekends before a set is released in stores to the public. In Prerelease Tournaments, players are given three booster packs from the jury and have to make a 40 card card, with only 4 gift cards, using only cards drawn from the package and the jury provides energy, but not a special energy card. Many fans are coming up with an alternative method to play the Transaction Card Game. Certain websites such as PokÃÆ' Â © Cap are dedicated to providing players with a new twist on their card game with new game rules that they can follow. The new method may be based more on video game adaptations of PokÃÆ' Â © mon or television shows Pokémon mon.
Players in tournaments are divided into three age categories: Junior (born in 2003 or later), Senior (born in 2000-2002), and Master (born in 1999 or earlier). Important references include: Austin Brewen who won the first junior tournament, Brenden Zhang who won the first Senior Tournament, and Arturo Heras won the first Master Tournament. This tournament plays a number of rounds, in which players will play a standard game against each other and win and lose will be recorded. In most tournaments, there are a number of Swiss-style rounds where the players pair up against others with the same win/lose ratio, usually from their own age group (this does not always happen in smaller events, though). After that, there will be the top record holder cut (about 1/8 of the top participants) in which the player will play two of the three best matches, and the loser will be eliminated (standard bracket tournament style), with the eventual winner.
POP runs the season for this tournament, which allows players to earn bigger prizes and play in a more competitive environment compared to the League. Starting from the City and State Championships, to the Pokémon World Championships, the sole event of the year's invitation. Players can earn invitations to the World Championships by winning or ranking high in the National Championships, doing well in tournaments to earn Championship Points, or by qualifying in Last Chance Qualifier. The World Championships are a three-day tournament, with one eventual winner in each age group; the winner of the age group of the Masters Division is generally regarded as the best player in the world for that season. Some of these methods are only used in the United States, because PUI and POP are based in the United States, but they are represented by local distributors who provide Organized Play programs to their own countries.

Main tournament
On 26-27 August 2000, forty-two Pokémon trainers from around the world met at the Hilton Hawaiian Village in Honolulu for Tropical Mega Battle, an international communications event for Pokémon Trading Card Games . The Tropical Mega Battle brings together children 14 years and under from the United States, Japan, France, Italy, Canada, Spain, Germany, the Netherlands and the UK for two days in Honolulu, Hawaii. Children participating in the Mega Tropical Battle receive invitations through Qualifier tournaments, DCI ratings, and other events in their respective countries.
The Super Trainer Showdowns are the great Poké TkG tournaments held in the United States by the Wizards of the Coast between 2000 and 2001. The tournament is open to the public. Each tournament consists of three age groups: 10 years down, 11 to 14 years, and 15 years and over. Every Super Trainer Pioneer is preceded by a series of Qualifying Tournaments held in cities across the United States and abroad where players in the 11 to 14 and 10-and-under age groups can win a trip for themselves and their parents or guardian for the Super Trainer Showdown event. To date, there have been four Super Showdown Trainers. The first Super Trainer Showdown was held in Long Beach, California on the cruise ship, Queen Mary on July 22, 2000. The format is unlimited, meaning that all Pokemon cards released in the United States are legal for deck construction. The second Super Trainer Showdown was held at the Meadowlands Exposition Center in Secaucus, New Jersey on November 18, 2000. There are over 700 players in all three age divisions that compete for the title. The tournament is eight round Swiss pair style followed by cuts to the big eight elimination playoffs. All the best games. The third Super Trainer Showdown was held again at the Meadowlands Exposition Center in Secaucus, New Jersey. It was held on June 23-24, 2001 and more than 1,600 players attended the event. The format for this event is titled "Modified" and allows players to create 60-card decks using up to four cards in addition to the basic energy of a particular set. The fourth and final Super Showdown Trainer was held at the San Antonio Convention Center in San Antonio, Texas on December 1-2, 2001. The format was again "Modified", but the latest set of Neo Discovery is also legal for the tournament.
Although TPCI tries to keep Organized Play as aligned as possible throughout the Earth, there are some important differences in how POP is run outside the United States. The Pokémon  © mon Card Laboratory ( PCL ), located in Japan, is the new card designer and ultimate authority on any matters relating to Pokémon Games Card Games . It can state decisions on any in-game situation, issue an error, change the card text after publishing, and change the basic game rules, although the last three are rare. PCL runs Organized Play in Japan. The Pokére  © mon Card Games in most European countries is currently handled by The Poké Mon Page International. Certain countries have no direct official presence; in this region, the distributor of the tournament run. However, like Black and White-Plasma Storm the code card in the booster package is instantly redeemed as an online booster package from each set. GamesRadar praised this game, stating "It all looks like a faithfully reinvented, including card mats, gift card layouts, and even coins."
The eponymously titled PokéÆ'  © mon Card Games , known as Poké Cà © mon Card GB in Japan, developed for Game Boy Color, was released in Japan in December 1998 and then in North America and Europe in 2000. The game is based on card game rules and features 226 cards from the game, as well as infrared links for multiplayer and commerce. The game was re-released for the Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console in 2014. The sequel, Pokémon © GB2 Card: Great Rocket- And Sanj ?! was released exclusively in Japan in March 2001.
