In the bar, last call ( last order ) is an announcement made shortly before the bar closes for the night, notifying customers of their last chance to buy alcoholic beverages. There are various ways to make this signal, such as ringing a bell, turning on a light, or announcing orally.

The last call time is often legally required and varies globally and locally. Legislation goals include reducing late night noise in the surrounding environment, traffic accidents, violence, and alcohol-related health problems.

In New South Wales, there is no specified closing time, although in residential areas the bar is often asked to close at midnight. In a non-residential area some bars open 24 hours. However, the six-hour daily closing period applies to new licenses (and additional hour authorization) granted from 30 October 2008; this period is nominated depending on the circumstances of individuals and society.

Austria

Clock time in Austria is governed by federation countries. In most state bars it should be closed at 4 am although many places have a special permit to close later. China

Many bars, KTVs and nightclubs have no special last call and will continue to sell alcohol and stay open as long as there are paid customers present. However, during sensitive times where increased national security (ie the Olympics, the PRC's 60th Anniversary), the closing time may apply in some cities between 1 and 3 am. Alcohol is sold through retailers 24 hours a day.

Croatian

Under state law, companies serving drinks may register as bars, in which case they are allowed to open in areas inhabited only in the indoor space and only between 21:00 and 06:00, while there are no such restrictions if the bar is located outside the habitable area. Exceptions may be made for bars located at transit facilities, if approved by local authorities, etc. The prescribed working hours for the bar is a frequent point of contention between city authorities and local businessmen, especially during the summer holiday season.

Dominican Republic

The Dominican Republic has a curfew of alcohol starting at 2:00 am which frees the non-religious National Holidays. Not applicable for residence.

Finnish

The bar is allowed to serve drinks until 01.30 am, but the provincial government may at the request of the owner, granting an extension until 3.30 am. Expand these institutions to maintain higher standards of facilities, services and entertainment by, for example, providing checking suits, entertainment programming such as DJs or live music, and even general and "see and feel" cleanliness.

The last call was not announced, but as a matter of course, the lights were turned on several times (or in the case of dimly lit buildings like nightclubs, all the lights were left on) to inform the customer that the drink was over.

German

Closing hours in Germany are governed by a federal state or city. Since the 2000s, many federated states and cities have no loose rules. In many states and city bars are open as long as there are customers. Open locations such as beer gardens often have to close at 11 pm. or 12 am to reduce noise pollution. Exceptions may be there for weekends, Carnival and New Year's Eve, etc. Not all cities are strictly enforced.

There are special provisions for certain holidays and festivals. However, the bar can obtain an extended license until 02:30 every night.

Israel

In Israel, there is no specific closing time and the country has liberal alcohol laws. Bars and clubs in entertainment districts will serve alcohol practically 24 hours a day, while in local residential neighborhood districts are applicable; companies that serve alcohol outside may often have to call their guests inside after midnight or even close at all.

In Tel Aviv, the bar is fined for remaining open by 1 am. Although some bars were actually closed at the time, they were forced to pay this "back door" tax to the municipality, without the help of the national government. A number of bars are considering closing at the required time and during internationally promoted events such as the Gay Pride Week in protest against the city's cunning hypocrisy in promoting itself as "a city that never sleeps" while at the same time fining companies that make it like tourist mecca hot.

Alcohol is no longer sold all the time at a grocery store, and no sales are allowed between 23:00 and 6:00.

Italy

Italy does not have a legally mandated closing time. Alcohol can be served or sold anywhere 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. In Rome, a regulation was passed in January 2009 to make 2 am last call at Campo de 'Fiori and the Trastevere and Testaccio neighborhoods. Of the 429 districts in Norway, nearly 50% have set the closing time or "last call" at 2 am. Only 1 in 7 districts serve drinks up to the maximum legal allowance at 3 am. This is a major decline over the last few years due to the government's belief that reducing drinking hours is the same as reducing battles, noise, disruptions, etc.
