Carson Jones Daly (born June 22, 1973) is an American television host, radio personality, producer, and television personality. Prior to 2002, Daly was a VJ on MTV's Total Request Live, and a DJ for a 106.7 South KROQ-FM Southern California radio station. In 2002, Daly joined NBC, where he began hosting and producing late-night talk shows with Carson Daly, and sometimes hosted special events for NBC, such as Macy's fireworks Fourth of July, and executives who produced New Year's Eve with Carson Daly from Times Square starting in 2003.

Daly has since been involved in more prominent roles at NBC, such as hosting his music reality competition The Voice in 2011, and joining NBC's morning show Today as a social media correspondent in 2013, with his role increasing in the following years to co-host.

Daly also serves as a radio DJ; he used to be a night show host at the Los Angeles KROQ-FM radio station; starting in 2010, Daly started entertaining Morning with Carson Daly at his brother KAMP-FM station. Daly also hosts the top 30 weekly countdown event The Daly Download with Carson Daly produced by CBS Radio (parent of KAMP-FM) and syndicated via Westwood One. The program airs on Saturday and Sunday morning in three or four hour editions on CHR/AC radio stations.

Daly was born in Santa Monica, California, son of the Coachella Valley TV personality, Pattie Daly Caruso, and actor Jim (a.k.a. J.D.) Daly. His mother is from Fayetteville, North Carolina. Her father died of bladder cancer when Carson was a boy.

Daly attended Santa Monica High School and became a member of the school's golf team before graduating in 1991. He studied at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles and went out to pursue a professional golf career. He is of Irish descent and has worked with Guinness on the local "Proposition 3-17" to make St. Patrick's Day an official holiday. Daly became an apprentice doctor for Jimmy Kimmel on radio at the age of 18 in Palm Springs, California.

Careers

Daly began his broadcasting career at KOME radio station in San Jose, California. Daly is then given a time slot of 6-10 pm at KOME KROQ's brother station in Los Angeles. At the time of Daly at KROQ, MTV recruited Daly to serve as a VJ during MTV summer beach house program called "Motel California." At the end of the summer, MTV hires Daly as a permanent VJ, a position that requires Daly to move to New York. Once in New York, Daly begins hosting MTV Live.

Daly hosted MTV'S TRL from 1998-2003. TRL was born from two shows, "Total Request" and "MTV Live" presented by Daly. The role of Daly as a popular direct host includes introducing the top 10 videos of the day and interviewing celebrity guests.

In 2002, Last Call with Carson Daly debuted. The show was taken in the same set with Saturday Night Live until 2005 when moving to Los Angeles.

Beginning in 2003-04, Daly started a special New Year's Eve for NBC, New Year's Eve with Carson Daly. .

In 2011, Daly began hosting real-world music competition NBC in the real world, The Voice . Daly's duties as a host include watching blind auditions with members of the contestant's family. As a producer of The Voice Daly has won four Emmy Awards for the Leading Competition Program, first in 2013 and again from 2015, 2016 and 2017. When social media correspondent Christina Millian left the show, Daly be the only host.

Carson Daly appeared in a brief but important role in the first episode of My Name Is Earl . In September 2013, Daly became the anchor of the orange space (social media reporter) on the Today show and also serves as an anchor filler for Willie Geist and the final edition of the event ( Weekend Today ).

Daly is founding partner with Jonathan Rifkind, Jonathan B. Davis and Bam Margera from independent record labels, 456 Enterprise & amp; Entertainment, which released a compilation of "Viva La Bands".

Personal life

In March 2000, Tara Reid met Daly at the Location of Total Request Live , and they started dating. They share apartments in New York City and Daly proposes on October 29th. In June 2001, Reid and Daly broke off their engagement.

Daly was engaged to Siri Pinter, a food blogger; in 2013. His father is actor Mark Pinter. The couple married on December 23, 2015 in a small ceremony. They have three children: a son, Jackson James Daly, born March 2009, and daughter Etta Jones Daly, born in September 2012, and London Rose Daly, born on August 20, 2014.

Daly is a Catholic.
