The Canvas Business Model is a strategic management and slim startup template for developing new business models or documenting existing ones. This is a visual chart with elements that describe the value proposition, company, customer, and finance of a company or product. It helps companies in aligning their activities by illustrating potential trade-offs.
The Canvas Business Model was originally proposed by Alexander Osterwalder based on his previous work on Business Model Ontology. Since the launch of Osterwalder's work in 2008, a new canvas for specialty niches has emerged.
