timesheet (or time sheet ) is a method for keeping track of the amount of time a worker spends on each job. Traditionally a piece of paper with data arranged in table format, time sheets are now often into digital documents or spreadsheets. The time card stamped by time clock can serve as absence or provide data to fill one. This, too, is now often digital. Timesheets began to be used in the 19th century as a time book.

Originally developed for employers to calculate salaries, timesheets can also be used for management accounting. Timesheets can record the start and end time of the task or just the duration. It may contain detailed tasks completed throughout the project or program. This information can be used for payroll, client billing, and more for project cost, estimation, tracking, and management.
