Milk Tray is a box brown brand currently manufactured by Cadbury. Introduced by Cadbury UK in 1915, this is one of the longest brands in the candy portfolio. Milk Tray is sold in Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, New York City, South Africa and the UK.

The name 'Tray' comes from the way in which the original variety is sent to the stores. Originally Milk Tray packed in five-and-a-half-pound boxes, arranged on trays sold to customers.

In 1916, a half-pound semi-pound box was introduced with a purple background and golden character, which had undergone a minor change in ninety years since its introduction. In 1924, a one-pound box was introduced, and in the mid-1930s, the Cadbury's Milk Tray collection overcame all its competitors.

The packaging design has been updated regularly and the variety itself has changed according to consumer preferences, and today it remains one of the most popular chocolate boxes in the UK selling over 8 million boxes per year.

Apple Crunch: Chocolate milk with a crisp apple flavor filling. Introduced at selection in 2015 to celebrate its 100th anniversary. The chocolate design displays the number 100 and the classic Milk "Tray" logo at the top.

Strawberry Temptation: Chocolate milk with fine strawberry contents and vanilla creme layer.

Exotic Delights Milk chocolate with turkish stuffing, previously known as Turkish Delight, was renamed in 2013 and dropped from selection by the end of 2015 as part of a 100th anniversary revamp of chocolate design and selection. The "Exotic Delight" has been replaced with "Apple Crunch"

Toffee Charm Chewy Toffee smeared with milk chocolate covered with white chocolate. It has now been re-formulated into "Salted Caramel Charm" to keep up with current flavor trends.

Nutty Heart: Chocolate milk with a soft caramel center that hides a baked pecan whole. Because complaints about choice have too many chocolates containing beans and caramels, "Nutty Heart" is now filled with delicate truffle cocoa filling and has been renamed "Truffle Heart".

"Lime Cordial" is also known as a wee barrel because of its shape. The form was continued and replaced with toffee filling which has also since disappeared.

Chocolate "Strawberry Sundae" also renamed in 2015 to "Strawberry Temptation".

Between 1947 and 1981, a Milk Tray Tray was available that featured 8 different centers.

From 1968 to 2003, the chocolate was advertised by the 'Milk Tray Man' a powerful James Bond-style figure who did a terrifying 'raid' to secretly send a box of Milk Tray chocolates to a woman. The original tagline is And all because women love Milk Tray .

Six actors play the Milk Tray Man. Actor Gary Myers, best known as an action figure, starred 11 of them between 1968 and 1984. James Coombes took over the role in 1987. Kidderminster-born actor Alan Riley officially became the last man of Milk Tray, in an ad featuring actress Sienna Guillory. An unforgettable sight of a man who jumps from the cliff top to sea is done by a veteran player, Alf Joint.

Top film directors, including Adrian Lyne directs her ads.

His music, The Night Rider, was written by Cliff Adams, who also wrote music for the Fry Turkish Delight advertisement. This music was recorded commercially by Alan Hawkshaw on the album "27 Top TV Themes" (Studio 2 Stereo, 1972). This album has been re-released on CD (EMI 7234 4 98171 2 8). Alan Hawkshaw is a pianist in the early sessions with Cliff Adams, for advertising. A medley of three separate settings from the theme, based on authentic scores like those used in commercials from 1968 to 2010, is commercially available, performed by London Music Works, on the album "Great British TV Themes" (SILCD 1357).

All television advertising campaigns ranked 11th on ITV's "Best Ads Ever" list in 2005. Certain Avalanche ads ranked 48th in Channel 4's list of "100 Greatest TV Ads" in 2000.
